New York-based Swedish-born American guitarist,
composer, educator, producer/record label proprietor
Sten Hostfalt ( Hust-felt ), internationally recognized
for an innovative contribution to music of our time,
first as a member of, and featured soloist in the first
edition of Argentine composer Guillermo Klein's mid
-90's pioneering ensemble. And since then, as a solo
performer / bandleader, through explorations of the
parameter of pitch with self-invented interpretative
techniques-committed to actively work to update the
vocabulary of the standard 6-string / 12-fret Guitar,
has for the past decade been described by leading
press as groundbreaking, impressive and Inimitable.

By way of apprenticeship in Jazz Orchestras led by
Phil Wilson and Herb Pomeroy, concerts with Gary
Burton, Peter Erskine and Clare Fischer and studies
at Berklee College and New England Conservatory,
Introduced to Joe Maneri's Equal-Tempered 72-note
virtual pitch continuum by mentor, avant jazz master
and famed talent scout Paul Bley ( who also initiated
Hostfalt's recording debut as a leader
) in 1992. And
encouraged to forge his own path by legendary icons
of American Music Jimmy Giuffre & George Russell
- Sten Hostfalt, active as a musician since 1981, has
operated at the forefront of Contemporary Jazz and
creative new music worldwide, alongside some of the
world's most innovative musicians for over 25 years.
